Hip Replacement Surgery –
Regain Freedom and Mobility
Adults of all ages are discovering that new technologies and techniques of hip replacement, performed by board-certified Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Glenn Landon, can help them enjoy the active, pain-free lifestyle they had in earlier years.
PATH Technique vs. Anterior Approach
In 2002, Dr. Landon helped to bring minimally invasive hip replacements to our community. As a further refinement, he is now bringing the PATH Tissue-Preserving Technique to patients here in Houston. The PATH Technique is even better and safer than the anterior approach.
High Quality Care That Exceeds Standards
Dr. Landon is Chief of Orthopedics at Kelsey-Seybold in Houston and holds the position of Medical Director of Specialties as well. This knowledgeable and skilled surgeon specializes in treating hip problems and disorders resulting from sports injuries, pre-mature arthritis and hip joint malformation.
With the older techniques and implant devices, many patients thought it best to wait as long as possible to undergo hip replacement surgery; the purpose being to avoid a second replacement procedure. According to Dr. Landon, new generation hip replacement devices should last more than 20 years, with some lasting as long as 30 years. He has performed hip replacement surgery on patients as young as 23 years old.
Who Should Consider Hip Replacement?
Patients who have lost the ability to engage in active sports or hobbies, or who endure debilitating pain associated with a hip joint injury or disorder should consider consulting a Kelsey-Seybold Orthopedic surgeon, such as Dr. Glenn Landon. Hip replacements can restore range of motion, relieve chronic pain and allow patients freedom to engage in sports or other active hobbies. Dr. Landon practices at the Kelsey-Seybold Main Campus on W. Holcombe Boulevard in Houston, Texas as well as Kelsey-Seybold’s Clear Lake Clinic at 830 Gemini in Clear Lake, Texas.
Less Pain, Faster Recovery
With the new PATH® Technique for minimally invasive hip replacements pioneered by Dr. Landon, the recovery process is usually reduced from weeks to days. Plus, the PATH Technique is safer, less invasive and requires a minimal incision and minimal force on the bones and ligaments. As a result, patients may return to daily life, sports, work and other activities they enjoy much more quickly.
